Client Success Story: The Weinberg Center for the Arts

The Weinberg Center for the Arts is a staple of the Frederick community. Each year, people of all ages enjoy their lineup of comedians, musical acts, movies, and more! But with so many of these acts using the theater’s projector, it was time for an overhaul of their system. In phase one of the project, AVG upgraded their video projection and video switching equipment.

To kick off the project, AVG researched the best projector for the Weinberg. They use it often for their movie series, backdrops for bands and concerts, and film festivals, so it was important the projector was powerful and bright. We went with the Digital Projection M-Vision LASER 18K projector, which produces an incredible 18,000 lumens with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. This big, bad projector is an incredible option for large-venue projection needs that produce an image with high color saturation and a broader color gamut, as well as providing a more dynamic and realistic viewing experience.

This projector is best used for installations where high brightness is required (like a theater with a large distance between the screen and the projector). Another huge benefit is that there will be zero lamp replacements for the Weinberg, since the projector uses a laser illumination system. By eliminating regular lamp replacement cycles, system operation is never interrupted and long-term maintenance cost is near zero. That means that the M-Vision LASER 18K offers a much lower cost of ownership over the lifespan of the projector

We also installed a new switcher scaler and control system for the Weinberg, improving their ability to control the system and deliver a better end product for their patrons. Switchers accept different video signals and scale them into common, high-resolution outputs, depending on the presentation environment. So, whether the Weinberg is showing a presentation for their speaker series or hosting a film festival in the space that seats more than 1,100 people, they’ll have a bright and clear picture.

Giving the Weinberg more control over their projection equipment, while reducing their overhead cost was key to the success of this project. Looking for new projection equipment for your church, office, or organization? Give us a call!
