Tricks of the Trade: Conferences

According to Merriam-Webster, the word ‘conference’ means “a meeting of two or more persons for discussing matters of common concern.” But if you ask us, that seems a little vague. The word ‘conference’ can mean many different things. So, let’s break down some of the conferences that we can help you with!

Conference Rooms

Let’s start with one you probably already know about. Most offices, no matter the industry, probably have some sort of conference room. This is where your team holds meetings, presentations, or conference calls. Conference rooms can range in size, from a small room with just a table, a few chairs, and a laptop, to large auditoriums with hundreds of seats and state-of-the-art equipment. We’ve worked on conference rooms of all sizes, installing audio or video equipment, improving conference and video call capabilities, and even helping with the room layout.

Conferences

Here’s another easy one that you’ve probably experienced for yourself. Conferences are usually more formal meetings with larger groups of people. Sometimes they include keynote speakers, product launches and demonstrations, or networking opportunities. With events of this scale, that usually have strict agendas and timelines, it’s important that everything runs smoothly; including the A/V. We’ve provided equipment, projection screens, lighting, microphones, speakers, and technicians for conferences big and small, to help make sure they go off without a hitch.

Conferencing

Out of the three, conferencing is probably the one you haven’t encountered first-hand. Conferencing happens during a meeting, usually a political one, when people need to hear each other across a large space. For conferencing, special microphones with on/off switches are used so participants can talk one at a time and be heard by all attendees. In some instances, the microphones will also have a voting button attached so users can vote in secret ballots. We’ve got some really exciting conferencing projects coming up, so stay tuned for their case studies!

We have the equipment and know-how to help with any type of conference room, conference, or conferencing needs you may have. Not sure what equipment is right for you? Let’s talk!
